Black Sheep- lol! Thanks for that, but I feel that there's something in these kind of articles, that are meant to be read to young children whilst showing them the pictures, that is quite serious. Still thinking- Here you go.. download.jw.org/../wp_E_20111001.pdf

1874, 1914 and 1943
by TD ina persistent meme that floats around on jw related internet forums holds that christ's second coming was moved forward 40 years (i.e.
from 1874 to 1914) in the year 1943.
(this appears to be based primarily on a statment in the book god's kingdom of a thousand years has approached on page 209 and to a lesser degree, a footnote at the bottom of page 133 of the publication jehovah's witnesses - proclaimers of god's kingdom.).

Djeggnogg said: 'Jehovah is still your God and he had no direct input in the decision that was made against you or your disfellowshipped loved one.' -- No direct input? I thought it was his organisation? I agree with this statement fully, though. Sorry guys, I just looked back over this and couldn't help myself. :)

WE CAN DO THIS....if you think the idea is as good as I do!
by Terry ini have long had an idea that i think is a very powerful tool in reaching even hard-nosed jw's.. .
it would consist only of actual photographic scans of various documents, articles, photographs such as these from marvin shilmer's blog: (see next panel).
there would be no extraneous non-official text whatsoever.. it would be published the size of an old life magazine and sent anonymously to jw's at their homes.. the cover would clearly contain the words: "all contents originally published by watchtower bible &tract society".

Even the Bible doesn't say that the world is about to end..
by The Quiet One inhere are some scriptures that show that the world isn't about to end, even according to the bible!
i noticed most of these in my own reading, but this page brings them all together.
i don't believe in the coming system of things, though.. any comments welcome.. http://www.apocatastasis.net/prophecy/prophecy-system-of-things-.html.

JWs blur the lines.....what is the difference in brainwashing and "inculcating"?
by journey-on ini have been thinking about no room for george and his returning to the vomit kingdom hall.
(miz, do what you need to do to get mentally healthy.
i am particularly thinking about someone close to me, as well, and her severe fanatical attachment to the organization.

Its very simple. Those words of God were, funnily enough, words of God, according to the Bible anyway. Jesus denounced the Pharisees for 'teaching the commands of men as doctrines', which we can see the GB do. The problem is that most jw's are reliant on the Watchtower to tell them what the Bible means, because to them the Faithful Slave, or GB really, are the only ones fit to be used by Jehovah to interpret it at this time. So the words in the Watchtower are meant to be viewed as the words of God. Any jw who disagrees with this can easily be proven wrong from the literature. So, as long as a jw blindly believes that the GB is directed by Jehovah, you can't argue with their interpretation of any scripture, at least not successfully..

Has the WTS removed the 'offending' publications? Or just retired them due to time?
by AK - Jeff ini seem to recall the earlier versions of watchtower cd-rom containing books from the 50's and 60's [life everlasting in the freedom of the son's of god - babylon the great has fallen - etc].
i have no cd predating 2001 now in my possession - and looked at that one today doing research, finding that virtually nothing pre-1970 is there [except the revised/altered 'truth' book].. is my memory faulty on this?
could it be that they just 'retired' the older pubs innocently?

Bttt. Why cover up old material, it's all inspired material from Jehovah, isn't it?...

I can't believe the irony..
by The Quiet One inwatchtower july 15, 2011 study edition page 12 paragraph 7 'following the crowd would not train our perceptive powers; nor, on the other hand, would a host of rigid rules in matters of conscience.
that is why, for example, jehovah's people are not given a list of films, books, and internet sites to avoid...worse, it would deprive us of the vital work of weighing bible principles carefully and prayerfully and then making decisions on the basis of those principles.

Aussie oz- Of course not, it has to be watchtower trained.. Oops, I should have said 'Bible trained', shouldn't I? Freudian slip, I suppose ;)
